Outcomes:
In this session we will lay the foundation of underlying principles necessary in order to undergo
a redesign for holistic foundaitonal skills. We will learn what to expect during the series, inventory district opportunities and challenges, and set goals to accomplish across the five sessions. You will dive right into trying to begin the redesign of your current monolingual scope and sequences.

Outcomes:

In this session district teams will dive deeply into their foundational skills curriucla to understand the design of each parallel scope and sequence, align it to Science of Reading research for MLLs, and decide on the amount of manipulation that will be required to redesign it holistically. You will continue to refine the draft of your holistic sequence using the research to back your decisions.

Outcomes:
In this session participants will learn the process for redesigning for a holistic bilingual scope and sequence, including considerations for various program models. Our team will offer various examples of design models that reflect a holistic approach.

Outcomes:
Moving towards finalizing holistic scope and sequences, districts will learn implications of the holistic design that result in the need for clear and consistent protocols for cross linguistic transfer, for clear foundational skills protocols within language, and determine what guidance documents will be key for a successful roll out of the design. Districts will celebrate progress collectively and share action plans for continued advocacy.

The impact of designing a holistic scope and sequence is increased when leaders collaborate within district. Everyone brings a different set of experiences and lenses to support the design.
